Jewelry Store, Macy's, Liquor Shop Robbed + Home Burglarized In 24-Hour Period: HCPD

Three businesses, including 2 at a mall, were robbed and a home burglarized in a 24-hour period, according to the Howard County Police.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Police have received several reports of armed robberies and burglaries of businesses and one home across the county that happened within a 24-hour span.

On May 28 around 12:50 p.m., store employees reported a man walked into Royal Jewelers, located at The Mall in Columbia, 10300 block of Little Patuxent Parkway, pulled out a knife and threatened the employees, then stole some watches before taking off. No one was injured. Howard County Police found the suspect, 22-year-old Malik Bryant of Columbia, nearby and arrested him. He's been charged with armed robbery, robbery, assault and theft, a police report stated.

Also on May 28 around 6 p.m. at the Macy's also located at The Mall in Columbia, two men tried to leave the store without paying for their merchandise. When confronted by the store employee, one of the suspects pushed the employee then took off. No one was injured, according to the police.

Also on May 28 around 9 p.m., a man walked into a home located in the 8900 block of Samuel Joy Way, Ellicott City, then took off. Nothing was reported stolen, police said.

In the overnight hours of May 28 into May 29, one or more suspects forced open the front door of Lark Brown Liquors, located in the 6500 block of Old Waterloo Road, and stole cash, police reported.
