Project To Convert Intersection Into Traffic Stop Underway In Howard County

Construction has started on an intersection in Howard County to convert it to a multi-stop intersection.

Recent studies have shown that traffic volume continues to increase in this area, making the change necessary to improve safety for turning traffic at that intersection, officials noted.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A project designed to convert the intersection of Berger Road and Gerwig Lane in Columbia into a multi-stop intersection has been planned to start Sept. 27.

At the intersection, a stop sign will be added in each direction on Berger Road, creating a new traffic pattern. Recent studies have shown that traffic volume continues to increase in this area, making the change necessary to improve safety for turning traffic at that intersection, officials noted.

Signs have been posted in the area to alert drivers of the reconfiguration.
