Charles E. Lawson Jr., 82, Of Havre de Grace

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — A Havre de Grace man will be memorialized Monday with a funeral service in Aberdeen. Charles E. Lawson Jr. (“Chuck”) of Havre de Grace, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Oct. 14. He was 82.

He was the devoted husband of 54 years to Sharon (Smith) Lawson. Born in Philadelphia to the late Dr. Charles E. Lawson Sr. and Helen Pettyjohn Lawson, he was the loving father of Charles Lawson III and his wife Heather and Jennifer Lawson Bepple and her husband Chad. He was the adoring grandfather (“Pop-Pop”) of Tessa and Hannah Lawson, Victoria, Scott and Kaitlyn Bepple. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Leipold. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lawson graduated from Washington College and retired after a career with the Department of Corrections as an addictions counselor. He was a veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserves, a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Aberdeen and a member of Masonic Lodge 130 for more than 50 years. He was on the board of the Al Cesky Scholarship Foundation and enjoyed the outdoors, as a biker, swimmer and boater. He donated blood to the Red Cross and cheered on the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 110 West Bel Air Avenue in Aberdeen, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 22.

Dr. Bob Clipp will officiate.
