Tractor-Trailer Crash Closed Tydings Bridge Friday: Officials

A crash temporarily closed the Tydings Bridge to southbound traffic and sent one person to the hospital Friday afternoon, according to authorities.

Four vehicles, including a tractor-trailer, were involved in the crash on Interstate 95 south at mile marker 91, transportation officials reported.

The crash occurred around 3:30 p.m., and I-95 south was jammed near the bridge for Friday's rush hour before the Easter holiday weekend.

By 4:45 p.m., the Maryland Transportation Authority reported traffic was backed up for 6 miles. At that point, the left lane had reopened, while the two right lanes were closed.

There was a 5-mile delay on Interstate 95 south in the area, the Maryland Transportation Authority reported around 4:15 p.m.

Susquehanna Hose Company members were controlling a fuel spill, while the Level Volunteer Fire Company medical personnel took one person to Johns Hopkins Bayview's trauma center, according to the hose company.


Traffic appeared to be congested in both directions, as traffic cameras showed northbound traffic from Havre de Grace headed toward Cecil County had stacked up too.
