EDGEWOOD, MD — An Edgewood woman has been charged with arson after investigators say she intentionally set her parent's home on fire late Friday night while they were out of the country.

On May 10 around 11:30 p.m., the Abingdon Fire Company and surrounding departments, along with the Harford County Sheriff's Office, were called to 609 Mulberry Lane for an automatic fire alarm. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the house. When they entered the home, they discovered no one was home and a fire inside a bedroom. It took firefighters around 10 minutes to bring the fire under control. Sheriff's deputies were told that the daughter of the owners, who also lived at the home, had called other family members and threatened to burn their homes in Baltimore County, according to the state fire marshal's office.

Deputy state fire marshals were called to the scene to investigate the incident and after working throughout the night, with the assistance of K9 Blondie, they determined that the owners' daughter, Lorpu Mulbah, 35, had intentionally set the fire.
