TIMONIUM, MD — A Havre de Grace firefighter will be honored this week during the annual Fallen Heroes Day. The ceremony, which pays tribute to those who have died in the line of duty, will be held at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium on Friday, May 3.

Held annually to honor Maryland's first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice, Fallen Heroes Day recognizes law enforcement and correctional officers as well as fire and EMS personnel who have given their lives in service to others.

Lt. Nathan Eric Flynn, 34, died fighting a seven-alarm fire in Howard County. Flynn was a 13-year veteran of the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services. He was the first career firefighter to die in the line of duty in the history of the department. He also volunteered with the Susquehanna Hose Company in Havre de Grace, where he lived with his family.
