Harford County Under Winter Weather Advisory Jan. 18

The National Weather Service has placed Harford County under a winter weather advisory for snow, sleet and freezing rain.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Harford County is under a winter weather advisory for snow, sleet and freezing rain. The advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.

During the advisory period, officials said 1 to 2 inches of snow may fall. Up to 0.1 inch ice could also accumulate, weather officials said.

Snow will change to sleet and freezing rain as the day progresses before transitioning to rain late Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

"A period of snow is expected for a few hours this morning," the advisory says. "A brief lull in
precipitation is possible mid to late morning, before precipitation becomes more widespread and changes to sleet and freezing rain after noon."

Drivers should anticipate slippery road conditions that will require slowing down and increasing following distance.
