Hatem Bridge Under Wind Warning

BREAKING: Drivers should be extra careful driving across the Susquehanna River.

A wind warning is in effect for the Hatem Bridge on Sunday, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority. That means drivers of certain vehicles have to be extra careful.

Winds of 30 to 39 mph trigger wind warnings, transportation officials say.

Local weather station data from the Maryland Department of Transportation showed after 10 a.m., there was a 25 mph gust on the Hatem Bridge along US 40 east as well as sleet.

Along the Tydings Bridge, there was sleet and a wind gust of 37 mph recorded around 10 a.m.

Drivers of the following vehicles should use extra caution while crossing the bridge during a wind warning: house trailers, box trailers, motorcycles, vehicles with roof-mount racks containing cargo or any other vehicle that may be subject to high winds.

State transportation officials advise keeping both hands on the wheel and slowing down amid high winds.

In addition to the Hatem Bridge, authorities say that the Bay Bridge and Key Bridge are under wind warnings.
