Strong winds have triggered alerts for drivers on several Maryland bridges Friday, Nov. 26.

The Hatem Bridge is under wind warnings, while the Bay Bridge and I-695/Key Bridge are under limited wind restrictions, the Maryland Transportation Authority reported at 9:45 a.m.

Winds of 30 to 39 mph trigger wind warnings, transportation officials say.

Drivers of the following vehicles should use extra caution while crossing the bridge during a wind warning: house trailers, box trailers, motorcycles, vehicles with roof-mount racks containing cargo or any other vehicle that may be subject to high winds.

State transportation officials advise keeping both hands on the wheel and slowing down during periods of strong winds.

Stronger winds have been reported south of Harford County, where the Key and Bay bridges are under limited wind restrictions.

Winds of 40 to 49 mph trigger limited wind restrictions.

During limited wind restrictions, these vehicles may not cross: house trailers, empty box trailers or any other vehicle that law enforcement personnel say may not safely cross.

Drivers denied passage will be given assistance to safely turn around.
