Havre de Grace Liquor Store Sells $50K Scratch-Off Ticket

An Aberdeen man won $50,000 playing bingo in Havre de Grace, according to the Maryland Lottery.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — A liquor store in Havre de Grace sold one of the top lottery prizes in the state this week, according to the Maryland Lottery.

An Aberdeen man spent $5 on the Gold Bar Bingo instant ticket, which he purchased at One Stop Liquors in Havre de Grace.

He and his fiancée scratched off the ticket together and found the winning numbers matched the ones on their cards.

The Aberdeen man told lottery officials he is between jobs while awaiting surgery; so the $50,000 prize money will help and may go toward a new vehicle, as his has about 250,000 miles on it.

He may get more gifts under the tree too.

“The question in my house is whether you need socks or underwear for Christmas. I’ll probably get both this year," the 46-year-old told the Maryland Lottery.

For selling a top-tier winning ticket, One Stop Liquors will get a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery as well.

The only other $50,000 win for the week from Dec. 6 to 12 was sold in Salisbury, where someone bought a winning Powerball ticket, lottery officials said.

Statewide, authorities reported 15 players won or claimed prizes of $10,000 or more last week.
