​Ruth Hebditch Sale, 108, Of Havre de Grace

The 108-year-old Havre de Grace resident was in the class of 1928 at Havre de Grace High School.

Ruth Hebditch Sale, 108, of Havre de Grace, passed away July 7, 2018, at Lorien Bulle Rock.

Born on December 28, 1909 in Newport News, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late John Cameron Hebditch and Mamie Spencer Hebditch and the wife of the late J. Cecil Sale Sr., who died in 2001.

She was a 1928 graduate of Havre de Grace and from Smithdeal Business College in 1929. She was a member of Havre de Grace United Methodist Church for over 60 years, and a member of the Elizabeth Overby Circle of the Methodist Church as well. She was active in volunteer work for many organizations, including the March of Dimes, mental health fund drives, Harford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Girl Scouts, among others.

She,and the entire Sale family are perhaps best known for owning the local Coca Cola plant in Havre de Grace.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Sale of Havre de Grace and John W. Sale Sr. and his wife Ida, of Branford, Florida; a daughter Marilyn Sale Senn of Havre de Grace; 8 grandchildren, Michelle, Tammy, Stacey, Janet, Richard, Wesley, Debbie and John Jr.; and 12 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a son, J. Cecil Sale Jr., a brother, Spencer Hebditch, and two half sisters, Doris Christensen and Jane Hebditch Babson.

Services will be held at Havre de Grace United Methodist Church, 101 S. Union Ave., Havre de Grace, MD 21078 on Thursday, July 19, at 11 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Angel Hill Cemetery.
