Search Continues For Missing Fisherman In Susquehanna River: Officials

Officials continue to search for a fisherman police say went missing in the Susquehanna River after his boat took on water.

PORT DEPOSIT, MD — The search continues for a 51-year-old man who was fishing from a boat with two other people on the Susquehanna River Monday night when he was swept away from the vessel when it became partly submerged.

The Maryland Natural Resources Police reported that the man was wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans at the time. Reports indicate that the 16-foot jon boat had hit a log and was taking on water. Two people swan to shore but a third was reported missing.

Crews from the U.S. Coast Guard, Maryland State Police, Harford County Fire and EMS, and Harford County Sheriff’s Office all have helped search for the man. In the meantime, boaters are asked not to travel on that portion of the river near Port Deposit while search efforts continue, Chesapeake Bay Magazine reported.
