Severe Thunderstorm Warning For Harford, Cecil Counties Expires

Storms with 60 mph winds were reported in Harford and Cecil counties Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

A severe thunderstorm warning has expired for parts of Harford and Cecil counties.

The National Weather Service issued the warning after radar detected a line of severe storms from Perryman to near Aberdeen Proving Ground after 6:30 p.m.

Storms with 60 mph winds and hail were moving north at 40 mph, according to the severe thunderstorm warning.

The warning lasted until 7:15 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 25.

These areas may be impacted, according to the warning: Elkton, Aberdeen, Havre de Grace, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Calvert, Bel Air South, Bel Air North, Riverside, North East, Rising Sun, Perryman, Charlestown, Cecilton, Blake, Bohemias Mills, West Nottingham, Bay View, Lombard, Richardsmere and Woodlawn.

During the severe thunderstorm warning period, people should go inside to the interior room on the lowest floor of a building, officials said. Do not drive underneath wooded areas until the threat has passed, as trees and branches may fall. Roads may become blocked by downed trees, and localized power outages are possible, according to the warning.

A hazardous weather outlook remains for Harford County and much of Maryland calling for potentially heavy storms overnight.
