Upcoming Listening Sessions To Discuss Use Of Opioid Restitution Funds In Harford County

Harford County officials will host several listening sessions for the public to discuss how best to use opioid restitution funds.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Officials will be hosting several listening sessions to gather public input on the best use of opioid restitution funds in the county.

The funds are being distributed by the state of Maryland to Harford and other counties through the state’s Opioid Restitution Fund. The fund was established to receive settlement payments from legal actions taken against pharmaceutical companies and pharmacies that contributed to the opioid epidemic.

A total of five sessions will be held at the following locations:

“Opioid addiction has destroyed lives throughout our county, our state and the nation,” Harford County Executive Bob Cassilly said. “We want to hear our residents’ suggestions on how settlement funds can best be used to help prevent further harm and bring healing to those who are struggling with addiction.”

Individuals who would like to speak will have three minutes to speak about their recommendations. Registration is required at www.harfordcountymd.gov/OpioidFundPublicInput. Written comments will be accepted and can be submitted at 15 S. Main Street, Bel Air, MD 21014 or [email protected].
