Havre de Grace, MD — As the COVID-19 pandemic threatens a long list of 2020’s iconic holiday traditions, it may still be possible to hunt for the perfect Christmas tree — and do it safely.

Did you know that at least 25 million real Christmas trees are sold each year across the U.S., and currently, 350 million are growing in all 50 states.? And during this unprecedented year, Christmas tree lots and choose-and-cut farms nationwide are taking precautions as COVID-19 cases rise to ensure patrons can take home their favorite tree with minimal health and safety risk.

In fact, the National Christmas Tree Association has developed a 2020 guide full of recommendations and best practices for Christmas tree sellers to follow, including frequently sanitizing items and areas such as hand saws, tree cart handles, countertops, door handles and restrooms.

Maximum head counts and social-distancing rules are also being encouraged at the farms.
