1 Person Dead After Mall At Prince George's Shooting In Hyattsville

Police said they found the victim in the mall's food court suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

HYATTSVILLE, MD — One person has died following a mall shooting in Hyattsville on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Hyattsville Police Department, the shooting happened around 4 p.m. in the Mall at Prince George's at 3500 East-West Highway.

Once on scene, police said they located a man in the mall's food court suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Hyattsville Police Department and Prince George's County Police Department conducted a search for suspects but officers believe the shooters fled the scene.

Investigators said they are currently interviewing witnesses.

The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time pending notification to their family.

Officers said they do not believe the shooting was random.

The Prince George's County Police Department investigates all homicides that occur in Hyattsville and have taken over the investigation, according to the Hyattsville Police Department.
