Andrews Air Show Wraps Up Air Force Birthday Week

The Sept. 19 free air show at Joint Base Andrews will feature the Thunderbirds and more.

The 2015 Joint Base Andrews Airshow will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, and is free and open to the public.

More than 30 current and vintage aircraft from a variety of military services and organizations will be on display.

Air Show Acts include:

  • U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds
  • F-22 Raptor demonstration team
  • Special Operations Command “Para-Commandos” jump team
  • Flash Fire Jet Truck

Displays include:

  • F-35 Lightning - the DoD’s newest fighter aircraft
  • U-2 Dragon Lady - ultra-high altitude reconnaissance aircraft
  • NASA’s Super Guppy

Among other commemorations, the Joint Base Andrews Air Show is the culmination of many weeklong activities in the National Capital Region, to include the Air Force’s Birthday Week celebration which runs from Sept. 14-19. This air show will commemorate 100 years of the U.S. Navy Reserve.

September 19, 2015
Gates open: 9 a.m.
Opening Ceremonies: 11:30 a.m.
Demonstrations: 11:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Parking: FedEx Field and Branch Avenue Metro Station.
Shuttle: Shuttles to the show run from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.
The shuttles returning attendees back to their vehicles will run until after the final performance.

Parking: Free parking available at FedEx Field and Branch Avenue Metro Station with free shuttles to the base from 8 am – 1 pm. (Or folks can take the metro). There is no parking on the base. Complete details on website: www.andrews.af.mil.
