Due to a concern for West Nile virus, the Maryland Department of Agriculture will be spraying to control mosquitoes in portions of Hyattsville tomorrow evening, August 12, starting after 9:30 p.m. Please refer to the map for the spray areas. Any existing spray exemptions in the area will be temporarily suspended. Mosquito Control personnel will use a permethrin-based solution that the EPA has approved for use in public health mosquito control programs without posing unreasonable risks to human health. However, out of an abundance of caution, the department recommends avoiding outdoor activities during spraying. In the case of inclement weather, spraying will be rescheduled for the next available date.
