HYATTSVILLE, MD — A lucky Hyattsville construction worker dug up a $50,000 winning gold scratch-off ticket at his local 7-Eleven, Maryland Lottery officials announced.

The 50-year-old man purchased a ticket to the new $5 Gold game, which went on sale Sept. 25. He brought his son to the Lottery headquarters on Oct. 11 to claim the top prize. He said he plans to save his winnings, lottery officials said.

The 7-Eleven at 2000 E. East West Highway in Hyattsville also won big. They earned a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the $50,000 winning Gold scratch-off.
