First Day of School in Prince George's County: Photos

One school was closed by a water main break, but the morning seems to have gone smoothly otherwise.

Tears were shed Tuesday morning – some may even have come from children – as Prince George’s County parents sent youngsters back to school.

There was one hitch in the school system’s opening day. Thomas Stone Elementary School in Mount Rainier is closed because of a water main break in the area.

Nearly 19,000 PGCPS employees welcomed nearly 129,000 new and returning students to the 2015-2016 school year.
