Janay Rice, Wife Of Ray Rice, Responds To 'Horrible Nightmare'

The wife of former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice spoke out Tuesday, saying the attention over the assault is horrific.

Release of a hotel security video that shows former Baltimore Raven star Ray Rice punching his wife, Janay, into unconsciousness and the firestorm of subsequent media coverage is a nightmare, Rice’s wife said in a statement Tuesday.

“No one knows the pain that [the] media & unwanted options [sic] from the public has caused my family,” Janay Rice wrote. “To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret every day is a horrible thing.”

Janay Rice was engaged to the football star when a February quarrel turned into an assault in Atlantic City and ended with his arrest. The couple married in March and have been going through counseling as Rice served a two-game suspension for the assault.

But, when TMZ Sports released a new video of the assault taking place on Monday, team leaders fired Rice and the NFL placed him on indefinite suspension.

The Baltimore Sun says it has verified Janay Rice released this statement to the public via Instagram.

The website Heavy.com posted a screen capture of Janay Rice’s entire message:

“I woke up this morning feeling like I had a horrible nightmare, feeling like I’m mourning the death of my closest friend. But to have to accept the fact that it’s reality is a nightmare in itself. No one knows the pain that [the] media & unwanted options from the public has caused my family. To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret every day is a horrible thing. To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his ass of for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific.

“THIS IS OUR LIFE! What don’t you all get. If your intentions were to hurt us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away, you’ve succeeded on so many levels. Just know we will continue to grow & show the world what real love is! Ravensnation we love you!”

Previously, the public saw video from the aftermath of the fight, in which Rice could be seen pulling Palmer, who appeared unconscious, from the elevator.
