Most Expensive DC-Area Homes Sold: Maryland Doesn't Make Top 10

The list of the top 10 most expensive homes sold in the Washington, D.C., area in the past year reads like a who’s who of politics, business and industry. 

A descendant of First Lady Martha Washington lived in one, Jackie Kennedy’s mother purchased another during the JFK administration, and Robert Todd Lincoln called another home.

Besides famous and well-heeled owners, the other thing they have in common: Not one is located in Maryland.

The Washington Post Real Estate section looks at MRIS’ list of the most expensive homes sold in the DC area in 2013. Twenty-nine homes sold for more than $5 million last year, a 40 percent jump from 2012, according to the Post. 

The most expensive home sold in the region last year was a McLean home on Chain Bridge Road with a view of the Potomac River; it sold for $12 million. 

Here are the addresses and sale amounts for the top five most expensive homes sold in Maryland:

1. 869 Childs Point Rd., Annapolis $5.9 million

2. 9411 Newbridge Dr., Potomac $5 million

3. 5325 Chamberlin Ave., Chevy Chase $5 million

4. 5630 Wisconsin Ave., Unit 1105, Chevy Chase $5 million

5. 8929 Harvest Square Ct., Potomac $4.9 million
