Squatters Won't Leave Bowie House: Homeowner

The Bowie man went to his property to get it ready for sale and found a couple living in it who won't leave.

A Bowie man who returned to his house to prep it for sale was surprised to find squatters living in it for the past two months, claiming he’s renting the property to them.

The couple have moved in their furniture, photos and other belongings.

When the homeowner went back to the house with the deed and asked the squatters to leave, they refused. Police say he has to work the ownership dispute out in court.

Steve, the homeowner whose last name was not shared by FOX 5, said he will instead try to speed up the eviction by filing charges for burglary against the squatters.

“Very frustrating, very frustrating. We all kept our calm and tried to do it the right way,” the homeowner told FOX.

His real estate agent said the problem isn’t that rare, he estimates he’s seen 10 similar cases in the past year.
