Vehicle Falls From Bridge Onto Road Near Cheverly; 2 Hurt

It happened Sunday afternoon near Kenilworth Avenue and Baltimore-Washington Parkway. Two patients were taken to a hospital trauma center.

CHEVERLY, MD — Two people were rushed to a hospital when a vehicle fell off a bridge onto another road near Cheverly. It happened Sunday afternoon near Kenilworth Avenue and Baltimore-Washington Parkway. Authorities said a car traveling southbound on the parkway went through and over the wall of the bridge over the northbound side, landing upside down.

Two patients were taken to a hospital trauma center. All northbound and southbound lanes on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway were closed at U.S. Route 50 following the wreck. The southbound lanes were reopened but the northbound lanes remained closed for clean up.

U.S. Park police were investigating.

Photos of the wreck showed a red vehicle upside down in the middle of the parkway as bits and pieces of metal and debris lay nearby.
