What's Open, Closed in Prince George's County on Labor Day 2015?

Here’s what’s open and closed in Bowie and Prince George’s County on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7:

• All Prince George’s County Public Schools and offices will be closed that day.
• County landfills, convenience center, recycling, yard waste composting centers are all closed.
• County trash collection is canceled. Collections will resume on Sept. 8. If Sept. 7 is your regular collection day, your trash will be collected on Sept. 10.
• All Bowie city offices will be closed.
• According to the city’s website, there will be no refuse or recycling collection; there is no make-up date. Refuse and recycling are collected on the next regularly scheduled day.

TheBus: Service will not be offered on Labor Day. In addition, the County’s Call-A-Bus, including senior transportation services, will not be operational on Monday. Normal route services will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Metro Service

Metrorail: The system will open at 7 a.m. and close at midnight. Trains will operate on a Sunday schedule. Passengers are advised of scheduled rebuilding work on the Red, Orange, Silver and Blue lines. Off-peak fares will be in effect all day, and parking will be free at all Metrorail parking facilities.

Metrobus: Buses will operate on a Sunday schedule. Check bus timetables for details.

MetroAccess: All subscription trips will be canceled on Monday. Customers wishing to travel on the holiday should make a separate reservation.

Labor Day Weekend Forecast

An early look ahead at the holiday, which brings a three-day weekend for many folks, looks perfect for getting outside. Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high of 82 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Sunday and Monday the skies should be mostly sunny with highs in the mid to uppers 80s.
