What's Open, What's Closed on Veterans Day?

A ceremony will be held Nov. 11 in Bowie to dedicate the Veterans Memorial; schools and some Prince George's county offices are closed.

The city of Bowie will dedicate the Veterans Memorial Monument at 11 a.m. Wednesday in a ceremony at Veteran Memorial Park in Old Town Bowie.

The City’s newest piece of public art will be dedicated during the Veterans Day ceremony at the park. The six-foot bronze memorial pays tribute to all men and women who have served, are serving, and will serve in the U.S. military.

Also, all city offices are closed Wednesday for the Veterans Day holiday.

There will be no refuse or recycling collection that day, according to the city website. Collection will resume on the next regularly scheduled day.

All Prince George’s County Public Schools are closed on Wednesday for students; parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for that day.

Find a list of government and service closures below:

  • All county government offices will be closed on Nov. 11, with the exception of public safety agencies
  • Bulky trash collections by the Brown Station Road Sanitary Landfill will not operate on Nov. 11, but all waste management facilities and collection services (including refuse and recycling) will run on a normal schedule.
  • TheBus will run normally on Nov. 11 with the exception of Route 51, which serves county government buildings.
  • Call-A-Bus service will be closed on Nov. 11 and resume service on Nov. 12.
  • The Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement will be closed on Nov. 11, but will reopen for normal business hours on Nov. 12.
  • Prince George’s CountyClick 311 is closed on Nov. 11, but will still accept service/issue requests from residents online.
