Some Washington Redskins Players Show Solidarity with Ferguson

Players emerged from stadium tunnel in a "hands up, don't shoot" pose as they were introduced Monday night in game with Cleveland Browns.

Some members of the Washington Redskins football team showed solidarity Monday night with those protesting the Ferguson, Mo. shooting of teen Michael Brown; they did so by raising their palms forward in a “hands up, don’t shoot” pose while entering the stadium during pre-game introductions.

In all, 11 players took part, ESPN reported, as the team was preparing to face the Cleveland Browns.

ESPN reported that safety Ryan Clark said Brown “could have been any one of us. That could have been any one of our brothers, our cousins. ... When you get an opportunity to make a statement and be more than a football player, it’s good.”

The shooting took place Aug. 9 and protesters have gathered daily in Ferguson since then.
