Ravens Announce Details of Ray Rice Jersey Exchange
The Baltimore Ravens will allow fans to exchange their jerseys this weekend.
Following a nationwide firestorm of negative publicity when video surfaced showing former Baltimore Ravens star Ray Rice knocking out his then-fiancee, the team has set up a system to let fans trade in Rice jerseys for that of another Ravens player.
The jersey exchange will be held at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, and Saturday, Sept. 20. Fans must enter at Gate A2 and head to the stadium’s northwest concourse.
According to the the NFL team’s website, the trade must be made in person, with a Rice jersey that is authorized by the NFL, made by Nike or Reebok, and purchased or available for purchase at the Ravens official team stores, with only one exchange permitted per person.

This official jersey exchange is in response to Rice’s Sept. 8 release from the Ravens and indefinite suspension from the NFL after TMZ released footage of Rice assaulting his then-fiancee in an elevator at the Revel Casino in Atlantic City.
Prior to the video’s release, Rice was arrested and charged for assault, for which the NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell issued him a two game suspension, a penalty many felt was too lenient.

The footage and its public response motivated the NFL team to void Rice’s contract, and soon after Goodell would revise the player’s penalty to an indefinite suspension.
Many have spoken out against the commissioner since the video surfaced, including the National Organization for Women, who has launched a petition for Goodell’s resignation on their website.
The commissioner reportedly has no plans to resign, according to a tweet from Mark Maske of the Washington Post.
