Toddler Shot, Hospitalized In Anne Arundel County: Police

SEVERN, MD — A toddler was shot in a Severn home this weekend, police announced Monday morning.

Officers said they heard multiple gunshots near Stillmeadows Road and Averill Court around 10:10 p.m. Friday.

Authorities said they confirmed that the shooting happened at a home in the 8200 block of Averill Court.

Police said they found a 2-year-old girl inside the home with a gunshot wound to her upper body.

Officers said the bullet came from outside the house. They don't know if the house was targeted specifically or not.

Authorities said they rendered medical aid until medics took her to a hospital.

The child was discharged from the hospital on Saturday, police said.

Officers expect the victim to survive.

Authorities don't have any suspect information at this time.

Detectives are still investigating.
