4 New Flights Added At BWI Airport

Four new flights are coming to BWI Airport. Visit a beach, a music town or two big cities.

LINTHICUM, MD β€” Four new flights are coming to Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.

Budget carrier Spirit Airlines will soon launch service from BWI Airport to:

  • Boston (Twice daily)
  • Portland, Oregon (Four times weekly)
  • New Orleans (Five times weekly)
  • San Diego (Three times weekly)

The Boston and Portland flights start May 8.

The New Orleans and San Diego routes debut May 9.

BWI Airport announced the expansion last Thursday.

With these routes, Spirit will offer nonstop service from BWI Airport to 16 cities.

Spirit is the second-largest airline at BWI Airport with a passenger market share of about 8 percent.

BWI Airport said its airline seat capacity, or the number of available tickets for departing flights, has increased since the pandemic.

The airport's first-quarter airline seat capacity is up 5% from last year and 2% from 2019 before the pandemic. Its second-quarter capacity is also expected to be up by 5% from the same period in 2023.
