Ace Hardware Celebrates Grand Opening With Horse, Grill Master In Anne Arundel County

CROFTON, MD — The Crofton Ace Hardware recently celebrated its grand opening with the help of a horse and a grill master. The store also ran deals and offered giveaways as it cut the ribbon on its location in the Crofton Centre on Maryland Route 3.

The business held its grand opening on Aug. 26 and Aug. 27. The horse, named Cosmo, strolled around the store on the first day, greeting shoppers in his Ace uniform.

That same day, customers got 20 percent off most items that they could fit inside a 5-gallon bucket that they collected at the entrance. Guests could also enter to win a room painting makeover, a drill and a driver, a gas grill or a weedwhacker. The prizes were worth more than $1,200 combined.

A representative from grass company Jonathan Green visited on Aug. 26 to answer lawn care questions.

The retailer hosted grill master Daren Proctor the next day. The Hughesville resident served samples of local barbecued meats from a farm in Huntingtown.

"All of our meats came from Sassafras Farms and they were a major hit, especially the bacon," Proctor said on Facebook. "Thanks to Stump Chunks, lighting the BGE was easy, and B&B charcoal kept it going all day. We also used a variety of Kosmos Q products and Blues Hog BBQ sauces, to add the perfect flavors to the meats!"

The store cut the ribbon with local officials on Aug. 27.

"Congrats to Ace Hardware on your grand opening," said Jessica Haire, the Republican nominee for county executive and the District 7 County Council member for the area. "Wishing you many years of success in Anne Arundel."

Haire's legislative aide, Matt Pipkin, presented the business with a congratulatory citation from the Anne Arundel County Council.

The Crofton Ace Hardware first opened its doors on June 13, but it opted for a later celebration. The retailer is located at 1633 A Crofton Centre. It neighbors Gold's Gym and Dollar Tree.

This is the seventh Ace Hardware in Anne Arundel County. The others are in:
