ODENTON, MD β€”Amtrak swiftly worked to clean up a mess made when a cargo train derailed south of the Odenton Station the afternoon of July 12. It didn't take long before Amtrak returned service to both tracks running between Bowie State University and Odenton, but will still be implementing some rerouting so that additional repairs can be made.

Amtrak reported that there could be a slight delay for southbound trains. In the meantime, to allow Amtrak to complete emergency repairs, train 448 (8:02 p.m. departure from Union Station) and train 451 (7:35 p.m. departure from Penn Station) will bypass Odenton and Bowie State University stations. Passengers traveling to these stations should ride train 446 or 548 (7:07 p.m. and 9 p.m. departures from Union Station) or train 449 or 453 (6:45 p.m. and 9:25 p.m. departures from Penn Station), Amtrak stated.
