5 State Championships In 3 Sports Won By Anne Arundel County Schools

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Anne Arundel County schools won five state championships on Saturday. A trio of schools took home the titles, which were in three different sports. The victors were:

• Arundel High School cheerleading
• Arundel High School field hockey
• Glen Burnie High School cheerleading
• Severna Park High School boy's cross country
• Severna Park High School field hockey

"Glen Burnie's title was the first in any sport for the school in 22 years," Anne Arundel County Public Schools said on Facebook. "Severna Park's field hockey championship was the 25th in its storied history!"

AACPS also shared a photo of the Arundel and Glen Burnie cheer teams congratulating each other after their victories.

"Winning isn't everything... but sportsmanship and support for each other are," the school system wrote in a post.
