Blizzard 2016: When Will Snow Stop in Odenton?

Anne Arundel County could receive up to 11 more inches of snow by Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

ODENTON, MD — Anne Arundel County should expect rounds of heavy and blowing snow the rest of Saturday and through the evening, says the National Weather Service, giving residents a fresh snowfall of up to 11 inches by Sunday morning.

That’s on top of the foot or so of snow that fell overnight Friday into Saturday morning.

The region is under a blizzard warning until 6 a.m. Sunday, and a high wind warning until 7 p.m. Saturday.

Expect strong north winds of about 30 mph, with gusts as high as 47 mph.

Matt Elliott, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Sterling, VA, says the snow “should be clearing out by later this evening.”

Wind gusts were clocked at 50 MPH Saturday morning at Dulles Washington International Airport, Elliott said. Blowing snow is likely hampering road-clearing efforts of the hundreds of snowplow trucks in the region, he said.

The forecast for Sunday is sunny, with a high near 31, although strong northwest winds will continue with gusts as high as 28 mph. The Monday forecast is calling for sunshine with highs in the mid 30s and calm winds.
