Chesapeake Bay Workcamp Seeking Sites and Sponsors for July 2019

Free Home Repairs Available to Those in Need

On June 30, 2019, Chesapeake Bay Workcamp will return to Anne Arundel County with approximately 400 volunteers working on 50 homes in north county. As in 2005, 2013, and 2015, the camp is sponsored by Nichols-Bethel United Methodist Church in partnership with Group Mission Trips.

From now until November 15th, the camp is seeking applicants who would like to have work completed on their home. Work will be completed by youth and adult volunteers during the week of July 1-5, 2019.

The repairs can include exterior and interior painting, weatherization, roofing (one-story and no tear-offs), porch and step repair/construction, and wheelchair ramp repair/construction. Both labor and materials are free to qualifying households.

To qualify, applicants must own their home and meet the following criteria: within 30 minute drive from 8146 Quarterfield Road, Severn; someone over 18 can be at the home July 1-5, 2019; have no safety concerns in the home; and have no alternate means to have work completed.

Sponsors are also needed to fund projects or provide snacks or entertainment โ€œeventsโ€. Specifically we are seeking things like music groups or other performers to entertain as the groups return from work, snacks and drinks, evening events such as ice cream sundae bars.
