ODENTON, MD — Crooked Crab Brewing Company opened its new pizza kitchen on Saturday. The Odenton brewery previously relied on food trucks to feed its customers, but the kitchen will bring the food in house.

Crooked Crab first opened its 2,200-square-foot bar in 2018. Soaring windows in the original taproom overlook the brewhouse, which spans about 4,000 square feet.

The brewery became an Odenton staple with enough popularity to expand. Crooked Crab leased the neighboring storefront and started renovating its 8,700-square-foot addition.

That expansion also included three more fermenters, boosting the brewery's production capacity by a third. Crooked Crab also built the infrastructure to double its production capacity down the line.

"The opening of this space really means an extension of our brand," Crooked Crab General Manager Earl Holman told Patch in an email. "Being able to bring food in house really completes the experience here at our taproom - having a great atmosphere and environment, having great beer, and now being able to have great food."

Holman said Crooked Crab welcomed a couple thousand visitors this weekend. Those patrons enjoyed one of the business's four pizzas: Margherita, spicy pepperoni, pesto and spinach dip.

Along with the pizza kitchen, the expansion offers a second bar. Customers can also sip their craft beer at plenty of high tops and tables.

Artwork decorates the space. The highlight is the floor-to-ceiling mural on the kitchen wall.

The colorful painting features the same cartoon style as Crooked Crab's beer cans. Smaller framed paintings also spotlight the labels of Crooked Crab's most popular brews.

The pizza kitchen is open from 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays through Fridays. Its weekend hours are noon to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The taproom is open Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Saturday hours are noon to 10 p.m., and the Sunday hours are noon to 8 p.m.
