SEVERN, MD — A brush fire burned at least 65 acres of land Sunday in Severn, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said.

Nobody was hurt. No physical property was damaged in the wooded area.

"A vehicle hit a power line pole, snapping the pole in half and causing the fire," Capt. Jenny Macallair told Patch in an email.

Macallair said the fire "impacted the edge of the Millersville Landfill."

"Thankfully, the ground and trees have had a lot of rain over the past week and that helped to slow down the process," Macallair said.

Macallair said 26 firefighters controlled the blaze in 1.5 hours.
