Maryland Live! Revenue Down, Statewide Casino Revenue Up 2.5% in November

Maryland's casinos saw a 2.5 percent revenue increase from a year ago, but Maryland Live!'s earnings were down for the month.

HANOVER, MD — While total revenue at Maryland's casinos was up 2.5 percent in November from the same time a year ago, revenue at Maryland Live! casino — the state's largest — was down from the previous year, according to the Maryland Lottery and Gaming.

The agency on Monday announced November 2016 revenue numbers for the state’s five casinos – Hollywood Casino Perryville in Cecil County, Horseshoe Casino Baltimore in Baltimore City, Casino at Ocean Downs in Worcester County, Maryland Live Casino in Anne Arundel County, and Rocky Gap Casino Resort in Allegany County. November 2016’s combined statewide revenue totaled $91,969,393, an increase of 2.5 percent from November 2015.

Casino contributions to the state go to the Maryland Education Trust Fund and also support small-, minority- and women-owned businesses, local impact grants and the state’s horse racing industry.

Maryland Live Casino generated $50,247,300 from both slot machines and table games in November. The venue's November 2016 revenue decreased by $1,407,953, or 2.7 percent, from November 2015. Maryland Live Casino operates 3,952 slot machines and 207 (155 banked and 52 non-banked) table games.

Horseshoe Casino Baltimore generated $28,503,083 from both slot machines and table games in November. Its November 2016 revenue increased by $3,917,505, or 15.9 percent, from November 2015.

Revenue numbers from the other casinos are:

  • Hollywood Casino Perryville generated $5,642,941 from both slot machines and table games in November 2016, a decrease of $419,473, or 6.9 percent from November 2015.
  • Casino at Ocean Downs generated $3,789,848 from slot machines in November, a drop of $66,408, or 1.7 percent, from the previous year.
  • Rocky Gap Casino Resort generated $3,786,222 from both slot machines and table games in November, an increase of $200,263, or 5.6 percent, from the year before.

In a year-to-year comparison, November 2016 casino revenue increased from November 2015 by $2,223,993, or 2.5 percent.
