Memorial Service Set for Annapolis Man Who Died on Route 50

Musician Jeffrey Alan Kaplan was reportedly struck by an SUV when he got out of his vehicle after it slid into a median.

A memorial service for concert engineer Jeffrey Alan Kaplan, 43, of Annapolis will be held on Feb. 5 in Florida, with a celebration of life in Annapolis Feb. 9.

On Jan. 7, Kaplan lost control of his car and hit a center median on Route 50, Patch previously reported. He had gotten out of his car and was standing next to it in the roadway when an SUV driven by a Hyattsville man struck him. Kaplan was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kaplan had attended Annapolis High School and Full Sail University in Orlando, FL, where he received an associates degree in audio engineering. For 20 years, he worked as a sound engineer, mixing sound at concerts. Kaplan even toured worldwide with well-known artists and bands, including Snoop Dogg and A Day to Remember.

Kaplan has a seven-year-old daughter, Vivien.

The memorial service will take place at The Gardens Cemetery and Memorial Park, located 4103 North Military Trail, Boca Raton, FL, beginning at 11:30 a.m.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, Feb. 9, in Annapolis at the DoubleTree by Hilton at 2 p.m.
