New Jamaican Restaurant Opens In Anne Arundel County

ODENTON, MD — A new Jamaican restaurant, Jammin Flava, opened Saturday in Odenton.

Jammin Flava started as a food truck in May 2015. The food truck is now frequently open outside Jammin Flava's brick-and-mortar location and the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company. The eatery also caters events.

The restaurant has been more than a year in the making. Patch first saw the Jammin Flava sign mounted outside the restaurant in February 2023.

"We are truly excited and we want to thank you from the bottom of our lil hearts how patient you have been with us throughout this whole tedious process," Jammin Flava said March 1 on Facebook. "You all were ready to go to battle for us if need be..and we want to express our SINCERE GRATITUDE to those of you who DID make an effort to assist us in their own way..and that right there showed us how much you LOVE and support us THROUGH ANYTHING!"

Inside, a Jamaican flag decorates each table. The green and yellow walls are also inspired by the flag. Decorative vines hang from the ceiling at 1109 Odenton Road.

Jammin Flava is located between Pizza Hut and Rita's Italian Ice. This site used to house The Brown Box Eatery.

The restaurant offers everything from jerk chicken to curry goat. Oxtails and cajun fried fish are also available. Customers can enjoy their meal with sides of plantains or coco bread.

"The service is unbeatable and the food is addicting," Isabelle Paulina said on Instagram.

Another customer, Donna Marie, is eager to return for more.

"I bought the jerk chicken yesterday and it was so delicious," she said on Instagram. "Can't wait to try the curried goat!"

Customer Carol Woodyear appreciated the restaurant's atmosphere.

"The place is beautiful," Woodyear said on Instagram. "The host is friendly and amazing."

County Council Member Julie Hummer gave the eatery a congratulatory citation on opening day.

"It was wonderful to present a citation to Jammin Flava to celebrate their new location opening in Odenton," Hummer, who represents District 4, wrote on Facebook. "Give them a try if you're in the neighborhood."

Jammin Flava thanked Hummer for her support.

"We are happy to be of service to the County," Jammin Flava replied on Facebook. "We have been welcomed and truly supported for years, and happy to call AA county, especially Odenton, our 2nd home."

Jammin Flava's hours are:

• Monday: Closed
• Tuesday through Saturday: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Sunday: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
