ODENTON, MD — An Odenton 2-year-old died after he was accidentally hit as a family member moving a pickup truck. An Anne Arundel County Police said it was a "tragic accident."

About 1:15 p.m. Monday police were called to the 400 block of North Patuxent Road in Odenton. Investigators said the driver was repositioning the truck and was unaware the chihld stepped off the porch and in front of the truck.

The boy was struck by the pickup and was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Police did not release the name of the 31-year-old driver, also from Odenton.

WJZ reported the driver and child were related.

"It appears to be an absolute tragic accident," Lt. Jacklyn Davis with the Anne Arundel County Police Department, told WJZ.

The accident is under investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.

This is the second deadly accident involving a 2-year-old in Anne Arundel County in about a week.
On June 14, a 23-month-old boy from Laurel died after he stepped out in front of Pathfinder in a Laurel parking lot and was killed.

The crash happened last Wednesday around 5:30 p.m. in a commercial parking lot in the 3600 block of Laurel Fort Meade Road, authorities said.

Police said it was an accident and no names were released in that case.
