ODENTON, MD β€”The Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks announced Monday that Odenton's GORC Park will close for a $5 million renovation beginning Nov. 1.

Construction is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2022, with the park, located at 2899 Strawberry Lake Way, reopening shortly thereafter. Depending on construction progress, portions of the park may reopen earlier, according to the department of recreation and parks.

The project, officials said, will involve the construction of a new playground, the expansion of on-site parking, renovation and improvement of the baseball fields, softball fields and the multipurpose sports field and building a replacement basketball court.

The construction is expected to provide Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant access to more areas of the park and will connect the park facilities to public utilities.
