Stanley Patrick McGinn, 82, Severn

Stanley Patrick McGinn, 82, passed away peacefully on Good Friday, April 3, 2015, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Nora (nรฉe Maeda), his children Elizabeth (McGinn) and Joseph Bonsignore, Michael and Asmaa (Murad) McGinn, his grandchildren, Judith McGinn, Michael Bonsignore, and Matthew Bonsignore, sister Judith (McGinn) Soper, and brother Robert McGinn. Stan was predeceased by his brother Leo Francis McGinn, Sr., and his parents, Leo A. and Marie V. (Uphoff) McGinn.

The joys of Stanโ€™s life included his family and his dedication to public service. He served 30 years in the US Army (1953-83), attaining the rank of Sergeant Major, and 22 years as a Maryland state civil servant. A Baltimore native and Green Beret, Stan served with the 5th Special Forces Group in Vietnam (1967-1968), and on tours in Korea, Okinawa, North Carolina, South Carolina, and his home state of Maryland.

A visitation for Stan will be held on April 10, 2015, from 5-7 p.m, with prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at Hardesty Funeral Home, 851 Annapolis Road in Gambrills. A Mass to celebrate his life and service, to include burial with full military honors, is planned to be held at Fort Myer and Arlington Cemetery, at a time to be determined.
