State Highway Administration Issues Overnight Closure of MD 198

Residents and businesses will have access to their properties during the closure.

The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will assist Baltimore Gas and Electric and temporarily close a section of MD 198 (Laurel Fort Meade Road) at Bald Eagle Drive in Anne Arundel County on Saturday night, October 8 to perform utility work.

During this overnight work, contractors will pull cables across MD 198 at Bald Eagle Drive and place new cables into new conduits. This work is part of an overall utility upgrade in the area.

Crews will work on site between 10 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. on Sunday morning October 9. Residents and businesses will have access to their properties during the closure.

To avoid the work area, drivers will use the following detour:

  • Motorists traveling west on MD 32 will be directed to Exit 10 C, MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) south. Follow MD 295 south to the MD 198 (Fort Meade / Laurel) Exit.
  • Motorists traveling east on MD 198 will be directed onto MD 295 north. Follow MD 295 north to the MD 32 Columbia / Fort Meade exit.
