WALK FOR PAWS & PET FESTIVAL - Saturday October 6, 10:00 - 3:00

Lake Elkhorn in Columbia; Rain or Shine! Celebrate Your Own Pet While Helping Those In Need

It's time for our 18th annual celebration of pets and their people! Join us for fun-filled activities including $20 Microchipping, Caricatures, Games, Contests, Kid's Booth with Face Painting and Origami, Professional Photographer, Animal Communicator, Ask The Trainer, Pet Massage, and educational booths to keep you entertained throughout the day. Try our Agility Course guided by Professional Instructors. We'll also have a Blessing of the Animals. And, meet our very special guests - adoptable pets in need of a home. New this year will be a Nose Work Demonstration and Reiki for Pets. The Shelter and at least 12 different rescue groups are scheduled so this is a must-attend event if you're looking to make an addition to your family!

This is a great day to enjoy socializing with dogs and the people who love them. But it has a deeper meaning as well. The proceeds from the Walk will be used to help homeless animals, including those with medical or behavioral needs, and to fund our spay/neuter program. Each year we fix hundreds of pets of low-income caretakers for free to prevent the misery that awaits them if they are born into a world where there are already too many.

We respond to 35,000 inquiries per year concerning everything from pet adoption to wildlife. We actively participate in legislation affecting animals. We speak to children in schools, scout groups, and camps about the importance of responsibility and compassion. We also offer educational seminars for adults to promote humane treatment and training.

This multi-level approach works! Our non-profit started in Howard County 24 years ago, and we have proven results. Since then, our efforts have expanded and now approximately half our budget is used to assist animals outside of our county!

Our goal is simple: to improve treatment for, and eliminate the killing of, animals in our metropolitan area. Together, we can make a difference.
SubscribeEven if you don't have a dog, or yours doesn't like crowds, you can still participate in the Walk. Our programs benefit cats and other animals too!
