ODENTON-SEVERN, MD β€” Many government services change their hours around holidays. Here is what's open and closed in the Odenton-Severn area around the New Year, which is on Sunday, Jan. 1.

Schools: Anne Arundel County Public Schools are closed for winter break through Sunday. Classes resume Monday.

School and central offices are closed through Sunday.

Government Offices: State, Anne Arundel County and City of Annapolis government offices are closed Monday.

Courts: Courts will be closed Monday. Court hours are listed here.

Parks: This interactive map shows the parks closest to you and their hours.

In Annapolis, the Pip Moyer Recreation Center will close at 1 p.m. on Saturday. It will also be closed Sunday. The Stanton Community Center is closed every Sunday. The Pip Moyer Recreation Center is open daily except on certain holidays, like New Year's Day. The Pip Moyer Recreation Center and the Stanton Community Center will both be open Monday.

The Kenneth R. Dunn Municipal Pool at Truxtun Park is closed for the season. It will reopen in May 2023.

Libraries: The Anne Arundel County Public Library will be closed Sunday and Monday. A full list of library hours and contact information is posted here.

Post Offices: Post offices will be closed Sunday and Monday.

Trash And Recycling: All landfills and recycling centers will be closed Monday. The county's curbside collection will have some changes. Monday's collection will happen Tuesday, and Tuesday's collection will happen Wednesday. A schedule of all Anne Arundel County trash and recycling operations is available here.

City of Annapolis trash pickup also has some changes. Monday's collection is pushed to Tuesday, and Tuesday's pickup is moved to Wednesday. Anybody with questions about the city's trash removal should contact Annapolis Public Works at (410) 263-7949.

Buses: Annapolis Transit will run on a regular schedule on Saturday with no evening Purple service. It will not operate on Sunday. It will return to its normal schedule on Monday. Visit this website for more details.

Anne Arundel County buses will follow this schedule:

Saturday

  • Buses will run on a Saturday schedule
  • Routes in service: 201, 202, 204, Gold Edgewater, Gold Extension and Yellow
  • Routes ending at 8 p.m.: 201, 202, Gold Edgewater and Gold Extension
  • Routes ending at normal times: 204 and Yellow

Sunday

  • Buses will not run

Monday

  • Buses will run on a Sunday Schedule
  • Routes in service: 201, 202, Gold Edgewater and Gold Extension
  • Not running: 204, Yellow, Crofton Connector, Crofton Express, North County Call n Ride, South County Call n Ride and Paratransit
