What's Open, Closed In Odenton-Severn Area On Thanksgiving

ODENTON-SEVERN, MD — Many government services change their hours around holidays. Here is what's opened and closed in the Odenton-Severn area for Thanksgiving, which is on Thursday, Nov. 24.

Schools: Anne Arundel County Public Schools are closed for students all week, but there are parent/teacher conferences on Monday and Tuesday. Teachers and central office workers are off starting Wednesday. Classes resume on Monday, Nov. 28. The school calendar is available at this link.

Government Offices: State and City of Annapolis government offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. Anne Arundel County government offices will be closed Wednesday through Friday.

Courts: Courts will be closed Thursday and Friday. Court hours are listed here.

Parks: This interactive map shows the parks closest to you and their hours.

In Annapolis, the Pip Moyer Recreation Center and the Stanton Community Center will be closedon Thursday and reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday. The Stanton Community Center is also closed every Sunday. The Pip Moyer Recreation Center is open daily except on certain holidays, like Thanksgiving.

The Kenneth R. Dunn Municipal Pool at Truxtun Park is closed for the season. It will reopen in May 2023.

Libraries: The Anne Arundel County Public Library will be closed Thursday and Sunday. A full list of library hours and contact information is posted here.

Post Offices: Post offices will be closed Thursday.

Trash And Recycling: All landfills and recycling centers will be closed Thursday and Friday. The county's curbside collection will have some changes. Thursday's collection will happen Friday, and Friday's collection will happen Saturday. A schedule of all Anne Arundel County trash and recycling operations is available here.

City of Annapolis trash pickup also has some changes. Thursday's collection is pushed to Friday, and Friday's pickup is moved to Saturday. Anybody with questions about the city's trash removal should contact Annapolis Public Works at (410) 263-7949.

There will not be any county government-operated bus service on Thanksgiving Day.
