William Arnold Ballard, 71, of Gambrills

William Arnold Ballard, 71, of Gambrills, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2015.

Born on March 24, 1944 in Cumberland, MD, to the late Arnold and Margaret Ballard, Bill attended Alleghany High School. The senior prom was his first date with Barbara, the girl who became his loving wife of 50 years. After graduating from Alleghany Community College, Bill joined the United States Air Force, serving his country for four years in Texas and Taiwan.

Bill moved on to a 33-year career as an analyst for the Department of Defense, where he was the recipient of several awards including the Meritorious Civilian Service Award. He also served as president of the Gunfeld Coal Company.

In addition to his wife Barbara K. Ballard, Bill is survived by two children, daughter Lisa Kundrat and her husband John, son Wayne Ballard and his wife Dottie, and four grandchildren, Nicholas Kundrat, Christina Kundrat, Matthew Ballard and April Ballard. Bill was preceded in death by his two sisters, Nancy Stonebraker and Peggy Beall.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, June 11, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1411 Annapolis Road in Odenton, where a memorial service will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Interment services will follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
