Photo of Driver Suspected of Running Down Cop Shared by Police

A man driving a stolen Subaru Outback hit a patrol officer and fled into Washington, D.C., Prince George's County Police say.

Authorities have released a photo of a man suspected of driving a stolen car that ran down a Prince George’s County Police officer, then fled the scene.

A search has been under way for the suspect since the confrontation about 1:15 a.m. Thursday in Oxon Hill. The suspect’s car is described as a gold 2008 Subaru Outback. It has DC tags DT2586.

The officer, who was in a marked police cruiser, tried to stop the stolen car in a gas station parking lot in the 4400 block of Wheeler Road. As the officer walked toward the car, the suspect accelerated, the car hit the officer and flipped him onto the hood.

The officer suffered minor injuries and has been released from the hospital.

Police say the suspect vehicle fled was last seen heading into Washington, D.C.
