Police ID Utility Worker Fatally Electrocuted In Montgomery County

A 39-year-old Frederick man was working in a lift truck when he was electrocuted shortly before noon Tuesday, police said.

ASHTON, MD — Montgomery County police have released new details about the utility worker who was fatally electrocuted in Ashton on Tuesday.

According to police, 39-year-old Osmar Daniel Chavarria of Frederick was working in a bucket lift truck in the 200 block of Ashton Road shortly before noon when he was electrocuted. Police said it was unclear how the electrocution happened.

Chavarria was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Baltimore Gas and Electric Company responded to the area to turn off the electricity while police investigated.

Chavarria's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the official cause and manner of death.
